Walnut Hardwood Lumber

Black Walnut Hardwood Lumber is a premium domestic hardwood valued for its rich color and excellent finishing qualities. Walnut grows sparsely throughout the U.S. and its higher price is due in part to the fact that Walnut does not grow in stands and felled logs must be dragged long distances in remote areas.

Walnut has a medium-fine to coarse texture that is even and uniform. A slightly open grain, patterning varies from straight to wavy and irregular. Heartwood is a variegated dark chocolate brown, sometimes with purplish hue; sapwood is nearly white, often steam-stained at the sawmill to blend with heartwood.
