Our Environmental Statement

FSC Certified Domestic and Imported HardwoodsAs global consumers of hardwood products become more aware of environmental issues, we recognize the increased need for third-party verification to certify our hardwoods come from responsibly manged forests. We are proud of our commitment to sustainability and are a Forest Stewardship Council® Chain of Custody supplier. TBM Hardwoods offers a variety of kiln-dried, FSC-certified and non-certified domestic and imported species.

FSC is an independant, not for profit, non-government organization established to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests.

TBM Hardwoods is audited annually by third-party Advanced Certification Solutions, LLC which provides services in association with FSC-accredited certifier GFA Certification GmbH. We adhere to strict standards for the procurement, inventorying, documentation and distribution of FSC Mix and FSC 100% hardwoods. SHARED RESPONSIBILITY

At TBM Hardwoods, we share an individual and corporate responsibility to maintain and improve environmental standards. Our primary mission has always been the distribution of quality hardwoods and millwork. We believe green initiatives can mutually serve the environment, our customers and the bottom line.

PROCUREMENT

Good stewardship is as important as quality and price when we consider domestic and foreign hardwood suppliers. Successfully partnering with reputable mills has enabled us to develop a reliable network of trusted suppliers. Additionally, we exercise due care to ensure that the lumber we buy has been sustainably managed, legally and responsibly harvested, and properly documented according to current CITES and Lacey Act requirements. We additionally pursued Forest Stewardship Council® certification to meet the growing demand of an expanding green building market.

FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. The FSC Principles and Criteria provide a foundation for all forest management standards globally which guides forest management certification in the United States.

PROCESSES

In the last decade, software and systems improvements have been a company priority. Investments in energy-efficient dry kilns, high optimization gang ripsaws and software programs to improve mill production, reduce waste, streamline order processing and inventory management have allowed us to do more with less.

TOMORROW

The best way to achieve our goals is to create a clean, safe work environment, efficiently produce quality products that further the success of our customers and ensure the stability and availability of natural, renewable resources for generations to come.
